On Saturday 23rd July the inaugural J Coutts Mixed Triples took place. The club and committee were delighted to run this memorial event and the large turnout proved testament to the popularity of our long standing member, Mr Jim Coutts.
At the end of the sectional games the following teams progressed to the semi-final stage of the competition by securing 100% records across the 6 end matches:
C Frame, R Frame & I Ferguson.
A Granger, J Turnbull & W Wallace.
M Patrick, G Grossart & A Patrick.
B Richmond, B Bickerton & J Forrest.
Despite some heavy showers, there was some super bowling in the semi finals with wins for the teams skipped by W Wallace and A Patrick.
The final was a very high quality game. The excellent standard of lead bowls by Margaret and Alison was followed up by the gents in each team with the eventual winners of Alison, Joe and Willie coming through by a scoreline of 8-4.
The presentation of the brand new J Coutts trophy was carried out by President J Bruce. To round off an excellent day, Mrs Ann Coutts was presented with a bouquet of flowers and we are sure that this event will become one of the most popular in our annual calendar for years to come.
This Saturday, 30th July, sees the playing of the 2022 Gents Nominated Fours. This will be played down to a final which will then form part of the annual Finals weekend matches. The winners of this event will represent Prestwick B. C. in the Bowls Scotland District Fours Play Downs in season 2023.
